Score Cancellation: When & How

Information about SAT score cancellation.

1. What does it mean to cancel my scores?

  • Cancelled scores will not appear on your testing record, but you will also never find out how you performed on that exam.
  • Cancelled scores can NOT be reinstated.

2. Who should cancel their scores?

  • Students who feel that they performed especially poorly and don't want to tarnish their records.
  • Students who believe they can perform significantly better on a later exam.
  • Students whose equipment failed during the test (calculators, etc.).

*Seniors should NOT cancel their January scores unless they have previous scores to submit with their applications.

3. How do I cancel my scores?

- At the Test Center. 

  • Obtain, fill out, and return to the test supervisor the official 'Request to Cancel Test Scores' form.

After the Test until 11:59 ET Wednesday.

- Submit in writing with a signature either by fax or by mail.

  3. Overnight domestic or international delivery to:
    SAT Score Cancellation

Necessary Information:

  • Test date
  • Test center number
  • Name of test you are canceling — either the SAT or SAT Subject Test(s)
  • Name, address, sex, birth date and registration number
  • Signature (required or the cancellation will not be processed)

* The mailing or fax label should read: "Attention: SAT Score Cancellation."
